    Pearls are organic and respond to what they touch. Put them on after perfume, cosmetics and hairspray, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth before storing — never a damp one. Keep them in a soft pouch rather than a sealed bag, away from other jewellery. A strand may need restringing once every five to ten years, depending on how often it is worn.
